Dāmodarāya viśvayā   Viśva- rūpa- dharāya ca

Namaskrtvā Pradasyāmi    vyoma-dipam hari-Priyam

“I offer my obeisance to lord damodara who has accepted a universal form and offer this ākāśa-dipa  which is very dear to lord Hari. Oh my lord, let me achieve devotion unto you by observing this vrata.”

“ A person who places a great lamp high in the sky during the month of kārttika takes all his relatives with him to visnuloka.
